The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church app, for iPhone, iPad and Android · Last updated 1 September 2026
The app collects nothing about you. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us, because the app has no server of its own to send it to.
A small amount of information is kept on your own device, so the app works offline and remembers where you were. It never leaves your phone, and deleting the app deletes all of it:
Some parts of the app hand you to another service. When that happens you are on their site, under their privacy policy rather than this one:
| What you tapped | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Give | The church's existing giving page at Vanco. Card details are entered there, in a browser view showing the real address — never inside the app, and never seen by the app. |
| Send a prayer request | Your own mail app, with a message addressed to the church office. You see it and send it yourself; the app never sends anything on your behalf. |
| A sermon video | Streamed from the church website's host, Squarespace — the same as watching it on the website. |
| Call, email, or directions | Your phone's dialler, mail app or maps app. |
| Share a sermon | Your phone's own share sheet. You choose the app and the recipient. |
Everything the app displays is read from pages the church already publishes in public — the church website and the weekly email newsletter. Fetching them works the same way as visiting the website in a browser, and no personal information is attached to those requests.
The optional Sunday morning reminder is generated by your own phone. There is no push service, no notification server, and no device token collected or stored anywhere. If you never turn it on, nothing happens. You can turn it off at any time, in the app or in your phone's settings.
The app never records audio and never asks for microphone access. A permission notice for the microphone appears in the app's technical description only because a standard component used to play sermon recordings refers to Apple's audio system; nothing in the app uses it.
The app is not directed at children, and collects no information from anyone, children included.
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to request, correct or delete from us. Removing everything the app has kept is done by deleting the app from your device.
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
